  1. Dear Dr Gunter,
I’m a newbie when it comes to social media. I was intrigued by some of the comments that you had made on the academic ob/gyn podcast. You had mentioned that vit D defiency may be a “pearl” with respect to some of the vulvar defiencies. I ordered my first Vit D level on a 42 year old with recalcitrant LS yesterday. For my own edification, do you have a reference for the link between vit d and vulvar disease. You mentioned that you have a number of practical handouts that you give your patients regarding pelvic pain and vulvar diseases. I was wondering if there was a way that you could send them to me as pdf’s. As well you had mentioned a variety of compounded topical meds that you prescribe. Could you possibly list them and their indications. I am a rural ob/gyn practicing in the wilds of rural British Columbia. Cheers

  2. Dr. Gunter, would it be possible for you to run a post on the risks of antepartum and postpartum depression — specifically depression caused by pregnancy? My psychiatrist thinks I’m mad for wanting to avoid conception and mitigate what risks I suspect I already face as someone who’d be going into it with a mental health condition or three.

Even if not, brilliant blog, and thanks for what you do.

  3. Hello and good afternoon Dr Gunter, I hope you can help me a few months back I had a rash on the back of my thighs and I went to my reg care physician and had asked if he thought it was herpes he said no! So he gave me a,cream to put on and it got somewhat infected so I went to a Dermotologist and asked him what he thought asked if it was herpes right away he said no and did scrape it and he said it showed it was athletes foot…. he gave me a pill to take which was for athletes foot and it healed right away! Then I started to get burning and irritation in my penis area mostly near the tip have gotten uti’s and everything so I got an std test done checked for everything the tests all came back negative except my hsv test came back that they checked for the antibodies but actually to see if I have it. Or does that mean I have it? I’m very confused I’ve been to my doc and the Dermotologist many times as I’m concerned I have herpes I’ve never had any outbreaks and they are saying that I’m fine and that my doctor says he thinks I’m not a,carrier Dermotologist says I’m fine and if I had contracted the herpes I would of had an outbreak by now. Please can you help me with a,better understanding. Thanks

  4. So… as credible as you post is on Dr. Ben Carson’s past fetal experiment, I find it difficult to believe that he would just “forget” this episode. Especially when it was published in a medical journal. Have you attempted to bring it to his attention – or, perhaps, to somebody else? I would think Rachel Maddow on MSNBC would be delighted to do a piece on this scoop. Don’t dismiss Megyn Kelly as a lightweight, either. Maybe, just maybe, he DOES have an explanation Or, are you not interested in a dialog?

    1. It is wonderfully encouraging to read / hear accurate forthright affirmative communication in the service of truly benefitting women. THANK YOU ! I thoroughly enjoyed and was uplifted by your article A Rash Of Mansplainers.

Kudos to your will and wit
      With appreciation, Hadda in NY

  5. Vaginal problems, bladder problems and anorectal problems are some of the most problems encountered in medical practice.Chronic problems around the floor of the pelvis is a challenge to the expertise of medical practice. From freudian anal erotic phase influences in childhood until late in adult llife the actual medical proffesional approach proves it efficiency..Dr Jen Gunter’s initiative on this blog is excellent.

  6. I am one of those men from your NYT today.
But I didn’t die in a meaningless war.
Get shot by a cop for nothing.
Spend a lifetime being sexually harrassed.
    Get murdered for sexual identity.
Get murdered for having or performing an abortion.
Get murdered by a husband or many other psychopathic men.
    Not a perpetrator or victim.
Chances and Circumstances Baskir and Strauss
Just a guy who never applied, wanted or would ever accept entry into “patriarchy”.
I perform my scope of practice such that my patients return to highest PLOF and it makes every day worth it. Should I never again be deemed worthy of affection I still sleep well at night.

  7. Hello from Winnipeg! I can’t get enough of your blog! Thanks for your hard work.

I’m wondering if you can write an entry on the difference between homeopathic and naturopathic medicine, and the evidence supporting this complimentary practice (or lack there of). Should we be trusting one and not the other, or are they both questionable? Where does functional medicine fit in? Many questions…

  8. Hi. My name is jacobo Contreras . My english is not good but i’ll try to ask you something. What is your opinion about the biomagnetism like alternative medicine. My father belive in that very much and i discuss with him because i belive in medicine science. Thanks. I’m from Guadalajara, México.

  9. Dear Dr. Jen Gunter,

I read your article “A chunky, white discharge is not a sign of a yeast infection. Really.” I enjoyed it and I can certainly relate to it. I just have a quick question. If its not yeast, then what can it be?

    P.S. Please write back
