Fox has settled sexual assault suits against Bill O’Reilly. This is fact.
Another woman has come forward with similar claims and there is chatter that O’Reilly’s reign at Fox could be coming to and end.
O’Reilly is outraged. These claims are apparently false and tantamount to character assassination!
Let those words sink in and then let us revisit the things Bill O’Reilly said about Dr. George Tiller before Dr. Tiller was actually assassinated in 2009.
According to Salon O’Reilly brought up Dr. Tiller 27 times on his national show over four years (from 2005 to 2009 before Dr. Tiller was murdered). That’s almost seven times a year or every two months.
Here are some of the ways O’Reilly targeted Dr. Tiller on his national platform:
‘Tiller the baby killer”
“He destroys fetuses for just about any reason right up until the birth date for $5,000.”
“This is the kind of stuff happened in Mao’s China, Hitler’s Germany, Stalin’s Soviet Union”
“Operating a death mill”
“And if the state of Kansas doesn’t stop this man, then anybody who prevents that from happening has blood on their hands as the governor does right now, Governor Sebelius.”
“If I could get my hands on Tiller — well, you know. Can’t be vigilantes. Can’t do that. It’s just a figure of speech.”
“Now, we have bad news to report that Tiller the baby killer out in Kansas, acquitted. Acquitted today of murdering babies. I wasn’t in the courtroom. I didn’t sit on the jury. But this, there’s got to be a special place in hell for this guy.”
I could go on, but you get the idea.
Did all these lies made up by O’Reilly contribute to Dr. Tiller’s murder? O’Reilly was the most prolific Tiller-hater in the media so how could it not have been a factor? You don’t have to watch his show to see his words spread on Facebook or YouTube. Lots of anti-abortion hate mongers have an O’Reilly-Tiller-greatest-hits video on YouTube.
Back of O’Reilly and the assault/harassment claims.
I believe women who report they are victims of sexual assault, although what I believe and legal definitions of guilt are likely very different. I also understand that a legal settlement does not mean guilt, although objectively $13 million for five settlements is a little eye-opening and it is very hard to believe a “nuisance” suit would be settled for $9 million. I doubt it would cost $9 million to litigate a completely meritless case. Other damning objective evidence is the distinctive pattern. In addition, given how odious O’Reilly is and how fond he is of using his platform to attack I simply can’t imagine any woman going though with a suit against him without iron clad proof. That also suggests to me that there may be many more women who were just too afraid or had less proof in the legal sense.
So the claims that Bill O’Reilly is a serial perpetrator of sexual assault are most certainly not lacking objective supporting facts.
So here we have it. O’Reilly, the man who made character assassination his life’s work and whose performance art likely contributed to killing a man who has caused Fox to pay $13 million to five women who have reported sexual assault and harassment at his hands is now crying injustice over how he has been impugned.
If Bill O’Reilly were not such an odious, cruel, self-aggrandizing, lecherous, spiteful boil on humanity’s ass it would be funny.
I was head down in training when Dr. Tiller was killed. I’ve learned more about him since and he has become one of my heroes. I didn’t know Bill O’Reilly had this role in his death. Thank you Dr. Gunter for being a voice for women.
You’re projecting, Dr. Gunter.
Do explain
Hope the day of reckoning also comes for another serial sexual assaulter…one who has an even higher public profile
I really hope this hurts his book sales. I really do.
I’m glad that people are now seeing that this waist of shyt is getting what he deserves. He is always judging people so harshly when he is a disgusting man-twat.
Bill O’Reilly;”: Oh woe is me. So sad. Get a grip on what you have caused others, evil one!
